Trustee 

Volunteer role

Cornwall Pride CIO are seeking to appoint a minimum of 4 Trustees to its board of trustees, with one trustee fulfilling the role as secretary. This ideal candidate will be an advocate for the Cornwall Pride values of support, awareness and celebration of marginalised communities. As a trustee of Cornwall Pride, you will join a dedicated, inclusive team and be offered training and development opportunities.

Cornwall Pride CIO encourages applications from candidates from marginalised communities. 

We are keen to hear from candidates with experience in some or all of the following areas:

  • Charities (both as an employee and/or a trustee)
  • Human resources
  • Fundraising 
  • Growth and development
  • Business plan development
  • Volunteer management skills
  • Social media

 

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the charity complies with guidelines and legislation
  • Ensure the charity pursues defined goals in line with stated objectives
  • Monitor the financial performance and ensure operations are within budget
  • Ensure the resources of the charity are used effectively
  • Maintain good reputation for the charity
  • Scrutinise board papers and other communications as required
  • Support the development of policies, goals and targets

Desirable:

  • Knowledge and passion towards LGBTQ+ and marginalised communities’ inclusion
  • Lived experience of LGBTQ+ and marginalised communities’ inclusion issues

Board commitments:

We hold 4 meetings a year that typically take place at Hall for Cornwall in Truro, on Saturday mornings. Trustees have the option to attend virtually, and meetings last between 2-3 hours. Trustees are expected to read the board papers before attending meetings, and there are also subcommittees and additional responsibilities available. 

Trustees must attend 50% of meetings in a year. The board are open to applications from those outside of Cornwall, as we operate hybrid meetings.
