Kernow Positive Support (KPS) is a Cornwall-based charity dedicated to improving the wellbeing and quality of life for individuals living with or affected by HIV. They offer tailored guidance and support, striving to combat stigma and empower their clients.
What They Do
- Advocacy and Representation: Assisting clients in navigating healthcare and social services to ensure their needs are met.
- Counselling and Therapies: Providing emotional support and therapeutic services to enhance mental health and wellbeing.
- Financial and Housing Advice: Offering guidance on managing finances and securing stable housing arrangements.
- Hardship Funds: Providing financial assistance to individuals facing immediate needs.
- Awareness Workshops: Conducting educational sessions to reduce stigma and promote understanding of HIV/AIDS.
KPS is committed to empowering individuals affected by HIV, helping them take control of their lives through comprehensive support and education.
Recent Developments:
*Note: Due to funding challenges, KPS has announced that it will be closing its operations by Friday, 31st January. Starting in January, non-clinical support services will transition to disAbility Cornwall & the Isles of Scilly, which will offer comparable services free of charge. KPS plans for its office in the clinic to become a dedicated client support room, where individuals can access support from disAbility Cornwall.
